Dr Chen Dear Dr Chen I first attended your clinic several years ago and within a few months, your wonderful potions of herbal medicine restored my energy, health and general well being. 5 May 2005 Hui Chun Clinic Dear Dr. Chen I first came to see you July of last year after receiving news of my third failed IVF treatment, before that I also had two failed fertility treatments. I had unexplained fertility. You recommended Chinese herbal medicine, after having explained that my womb was probably not as healthy as it should be. It all made sense, as I knew that my eggs fertilized but when implanted nothing! Having been taking the TCM for two months I became pregnant, unfortunately, early on in the pregnancy there were complications and I lost the baby. Not giving up, as I knew now that I could get pregnant I came back to see you at the end of last year. Again a treatment of TCM was recommended and I am pleased to say that I am having a baby. I had my first scan and all is looking well. 3rd August 2007 After suffering an early miscarriage in September ＊04, my husband and I tired desperately for the following two years to fall pregnant again to no avail. We had investigations done at our local NHS hospital which all found nothing to be obviously wrong and we were referred to the Assisted Conception Unit at the Royal Infirmary. Despite being told there was no reason why we wouldn＊t conceive naturally, I couldn＊t help thinking there was more to the problem. I was suffering repeated UTI＊s and kidney problems which were dismissed by the hospital doctor as unrelated and a separate system and my periods, though regular, were short and very light. At my wits end, my mother brought me to you, feeling that by now anything was worth a try and maybe I just needed to feel like I was doing something. You advised me on my circumstances and prescribed Traditional Chinese Medicinal Herbs to treat me. Having just had a period, I was told to take the medicine for three weeks until my next period came, when I would come back for a different mixture. You thought that using the medicine for a few cycles would help to cleanse me system and help thins along. I cannot tell you how shocked and delighted we were to discover, when my next period never arrived, that, unbelievably, I was pregnant!! I couldn＊t believe my dream had come true so quickly but obviously we were worried about the coming weeks. I continued to take the medicine during my early pregnancy as advised and am so thrilled to be able to tell you that on 14th June I gave birth to a perfect and healthy baby boy, weighing a bouncing 8Ib 7oz!! Words can barely describe how delighted we are with our ＆miracle＊ and though our days ( and nights!) are filled with looking after and cooing over our new son, it has occasionally crossed my mind how this time last year I was so filled with despair thinking I would never be a mother. Dear Dr Chen This is just a note to thank you very much for the treatment you gave me as part of my IVF treatment or should I say that combined with my IVF treatment. 25th March 2007 I am pleased to tell you that on Thursday 18th January 2007 I gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Rhys weighing 8Ibs 4. Rhys is now nearly 10 weeks old and continues to amaze us with his every move. Everything about him is that little bit more precious after waiting so long for his arrival. Rhys now weighs a hearty 14Ibs and will no doubt be tall like his father. As stated in my previous letter I have no doubt that your herbal tea treatment contributed to Rhys being conceived. I was truly amazed to get pregnant without assisted conception techniques especially after having one failed IUI attempt. Kind regards, Arlene 25th March 2007 I want to start my story by saying that I had read a few of these type of life accounts when trying for a baby and just hoped that it would suspected that it wouldn＊t happen to us. Prior to turning thirty. I hadn＊t really thought much about having children, I guess I just presumed that if I chose that path it would happen right away for me. My husband and I had been together for quite a while and married for two years when we agreed that the time was try to try for a family. Time passed by from one month to two and so on until a year had passed with on success. During this time I tried ovulation sticks and used up loads of pregnancy tests. Not being one to wait around after the year I went to the doctor who carried out routine blood tests which all came back normal with the exception of my thyroid test. I was advised that I was borderline hypothyroid and that may be the reason for our difficulty conceiving. I was really pleased that I maybe had a reason for the wait and that it would be addressed. I took the medication right away and still nothing happened. I managed to get a laporoscopy through my private health care after which I was advised that I had mild to moderate endometriosis and a large(9cm in diameter) endometriosis cyst on one of my ovaries. I arranged a laparotomy operation to remove the cyst for a fortnight later during which time I continued with my reflexology and homeopathic medicine and acupuncture. Prior to the operation I had to sign consent for the removal of one ovary if it was beyond repair. I was woken by the surgeon with the news that my cyst had burst on its own which was highly unusual. I was so pleased that I had both ovaries that I didn＊t bother much about the 5 inch cut where I had been opened up for no reason. After the operation I was quite ill and the last thing on my mind was trying for a baby. When fully recovered, about two months later we started trying again during which time I booked holidays in the hope that I would get pregnant as people were always saying that you would get pregnant at the most inconvenient time. Secretly I prayed that by booking the holiday I would somehow get pregnant (crazy I know but that was least of the crazy thoughts flying through my mind during that period). My head hurt sometimes with the constant thinking about having a baby and I cried a lot mostly around the time of my period. My husband was fantastic he would be sad tat times but managed to keep my spirits up offering loads of support even when I was a little bit neurotic. As we were still waiting for IUI on the NHS we decided to give it a go at the Nuffield. I went along to start at which time I was told that I had a regular cyst on one ovary and treatment could not commence until it had cleared. I thought that acupuncture had cleared my endometriosis cyst so I again turned to it. I found a Chinese doctor on Cambridge Street, near my work. I don＊t think that this doctor＊s treatment made the slightest difference to my cysts but I continued to go and paid him quite a lot of money in the process. I was given acupuncture, Chinese tea and cupping. About two months later when my cyst had cleared I started IUI treatment at the Nuffield taking the clomid and giving myself injections to stimulate egg production. When I went for my scan I was told that I had hyper stimulated and that IUI would not be possible. I was inconsolable that afternoon I couldn＊t believe my bad luck. We never got IUI at the Nuffield as I had other cysts as a result of the hyper stimulation by which time we had reached the top of the NHS list for IUI. We went to Monklands Hospital where we answered the same awful, personal questions and started treatment. My poor husband had to keep giving samples to the different hospitals a subject, which brought us quite a lot of amusement because if we didn＊t laugh then we would have cried for certain. The nurses at Monklands were fantastic and made me feel much more at ease. We missed a few months due to more cysts and eventually managed to try one IUI session using just clomid to prevent hyper stimulation. My expectations were very high and sadly not met, as we did not get pregnant. Around about this time the Chinese doctor I had been seeing went back to China for a holiday. I was convinced that If I stopped drinking my tea then I would really have on chance so I stumbled across the HUI CHUJN CLINIC at 325 Great Western Road. I saw Doctor WEI XIONG CHEN who speaks perfect English, which made a hug difference not speaking through an interpreter. He told me that that the condition of my womb was not able to sustain a pregnancy and prescribed more tea. I had been having very light periods for some years only lasting two days so that seemed possible. He also told me that I didn＊t need acupuncture or cupping. I was really sick of the tea and becoming cynical about Chinese medicine but Doctor Chen gave me some hope as did the numerous thank you letters on his walls from ladies that had got pregnant using his tea some of which had even tried IVF with no success. On 13th April 2006 I had a period which resembled that which I had when I was about thirteen years of age, by this time I had been drinking the tea and visiting Doctor Chen weekly for about 3 months. I booked a holiday as I was having a treatment break at Monklands due to more cysts. We went to Cyprus for a week and I had a couple glasses of wine each night and returned home feeling refreshed and ready to recommence treatment. My periods didn＊t come and I was really annoyed, as I wanted to get right back into the IUI. I held of doing a pregnancy test as I couldn＊t face the disappointment and I had been having cramps so I knew my period was imminent. When I reached 4 days overdue I did the test and couldn＊t believe my eyes, a big fat positive result. The day marked the rest of our lives, which had been on hold for two and a half years. We were nervous wrecks for the whole nine months until 18th January 2007 when our son Rhys was born weighing a healthy 8lbs 4ounces. He is absolutely gorgeous and we love him to bits, well worth the wait. I am convinced that Doctor Chen＊s tea was the reason I fell pregnant and that my heavy period was proof of that. During the wait I also tried hypnotherapy, which definitely helped me relax. The CD specifically for infertility is meant to reverse your subconscious thinking that you can＊t get pregnant. Our journey to parenthood has made me very aware of other people＊s feelings and I will never ask anyone ※are you not going to have children then? If you are you better get a move on the old clocks ticking§ nor will I say ※just relax and it will happen§. I can safely say our infertility journey has been the hardest time of my life. I have made a vow to always tell people it wasn＊t easy for me to get pregnant so that anyone going through it can realize they are not alone. 19 November 1998 Myself and colleague have experienced severe forms of acne. We decided to write because we now feel we are on the road to recovery and feel it important to let other sufferers know, that no matter how severe their condition, there is a way forward with Dr Wei-Xiong Chen. Dr Chen practices Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from the Hui Chun Clinic in Hill Street, Glasgow. TCM is a completely natural health system, where therapies such as herbal medicine, acupuncture and massage are used to treat imbalance in the body. We are both taking herbal medicines prescribed by Dr Chen and thanks to him and the body＊s innate ability to heal itself, are recovering from this distressing disease. The Chinese herbal medicine we take consists of dry herbs which are boiled in water and then drunk as a ＆tea＊ with this treatment complemented by herbal creams to apply on affected areas. Advice is also given on diet. We are living examples that this treatment works. Not only has it been effective in treating our acne symptoms but, as a holistic form of treatment, has actualized other improvements in both body and mind. Although acne is usually associated with adolescence, we are adults in our thirties and have only recently started to suffer from acne. We describe our experience in turn. I (Gary) came to Dr Chen after experiencing distress and discomfort from painful lumps, skin irritation and inflammation on my face. There was also a marked deterioration in the quality of my skin. After only the first or second week of taking the herbal medicine, the pain and redness cleared completely. My case (Pauline) was even more severe, diagnosed by consultant dermatologists as a variant form of acne. The condition erupted suddenly in January of this year with my face becoming completely distressed with concentrated swollen and infected pustules which are at times so painful that I could not sleep and at one time so physically restricting that I found it difficult to eat. I initially took antibiotics which after several months helped to improve my condition but after coming off them , the acne returned with a vengeance and spread to other arrears of my face. Throughout this time, I received a great deal of support from my GP, but after much thought I felt that I could not accept what conventional medicine had to offer and in the end I refused the combination of antibiotics, oral steroids and Roaccutane prescribed by the Consultant dermatologist. I am so glad I made this decision for I know it was the right one. After six weeks of treatment from Dr Chen, the surface of my skin became flat, the inflammation cleared up and the pustules had gone. Now, after four months the redness is gradually receding. The Roaccutane and other drugs I could so easily have taken, would I feel, have introduced even more toxins into my already diseased system. Because of our experience, we had great confidence in TCM, particularly in Dr Chen, and if any of you reading this suffer form acne or any other skin condition, we would encourage you to take this path. We only met through Dr Chen and so during this time it has been helpful for us to share our experiences and lend each other the support which so benefits the healing process. Garry McGrath Psoriasis 
19 Elmore Avenue Psoriasis 每 a skin disorder as disfiguring as it is uncomfortable and hard to look upon. My psoriasis began in the nineteen seventies with an itchy scalp. The itch was soon followed by uncontrollable scratching and weeping sores which produced a fine shower of silvery flakes of dead skin cells. These piles of flakes were a constant reminder, if any reminder were necessary, of where you had been or slept. Thankfully my psoriasis stayed restricted to my scalp alone for several years. It was treated by prescriptions of betnovate and coal tar shampoos which controlled the condition for about a week at the start of treatment until the cycle of itch, rash, scratching and flaking skin began again 每 getting less easy to control with each appearance. It soon became a part of my daily life. It stayed on my scalp for some time and then began to invade my torso, arms and legs 每 patches of dry, flaking, bleeding sores which got bigger and angrier with each passing month. My doctor sent me to the skin department of my local hospital as an out-patient where I met a different and often diffident doctor on each visit who made no secret of the fact that they had not read my previous case notes nor had much interest in what to their eyes was unsightly, not infectious, and incurable. I began sneaking a look at my case notes while I was waiting for the doctor to examine me and began to realize that their creams and lotions had such side effects, which may have been acceptable, had they been effective for more than a day or two. I abandoned orthodox treatment soon after in favour of ＆alternative＊ practices. Under homeopathic treatment the weeping sores which covered my skin dried up, the itch lessened and my energy levels began to rise. However, even after some years of treatment the patches refused to release their hold on my body. It was recommended I begin Traditional Chinese Medicine. After an introductory chat, examination and kidney and liver function test, I began treatment at the Hui Chun Clinic which is situated at 54 Hill Street Glasgow. Dr Chen who runs the clinic prescribed mixtures of Chinese herbs, roots stalks, leaves and minerals. The herbs are cooked in water and drunk as a most unpalitable ＆tea＊ twice a day. Dr Chen used acupuncture as part of his treatment of my condition. As the psoriasis began to lessen its grip the herbal decoction was boiled and drunk less often. As a result of this treatment the psoriasis left my body. I have had clear normal looking skin for four months now. I go swimming regularly with my son who since his birth eleven years ago never seen me in a public swimming pool. I sometimes still waken in the morning and remember with great sadness how my skin had been and how the tell-tale sighs of my condition had left those little piles of shed skin cells on the bed clothes. The Hui Chun Clinic On February 1994, a small piece of psoriasis on the shin of my right leg. I did not pay much attention to it at first thinking that it would go away. I was wrong; it started spreading to most parts of my body; my arms, legs, hands, ears, stomach, back and scalp were covered in psoriasis. By this time I was trying to treat myself by bathing and using talc and creams to see if I could get relief as I heard there was no cure for it. My father had psoriasis for about 15 years and he had tried all the ointments and creams that were available to him. He also spent periods of time in hospital, 3 weeks at a time, during his 15 years of suffering. When he died of a heart attack, he still had psoriasis on most parts of his body. I decided that I wanted to try some other treatment. My daughter, who also suffers from psoriasis told me about a friend, who suffers from the same condition, that had tried everything to get rid of her psoriasis, eventually consulted The Hui Chun Clinic. She was now clear of psoriasis after receiving the herbal treatment prescribed by Dr Chen. I made an appointment to have a consultation on 16 May 1994, where I met Dr Chen. He examined me and said that he could help me. By now I was in agony with sores and was itching all over. Dr Chen advised me to see my GP to arrange blood tests for my liver and kidneys before starting the herbal treatment. After discussing this treatment with my GP, she agreed to the blood tests and copies of the results to be sent to Dr Chen so that I could begin the treatment. About 10 days after I received the results of my blood test, I began the herbal treatment. Dr Chen examined me and made a prescription of herbs for me to take; also cream to apply to my skin. The herbs that I was taking were boiled and I had to drink the juice from them: three quarters of a mug, twice a day at the beginning of the treatment. As the weeks went on I felt the psoriasis was getting worse, as if the herbs were bringing the psoriasis to the surface of my skin. After about 7 weeks I started to feel a change for the better. This change continued each day. It is now 10 weeks after starting the herbal treatment and my skin is completely free from psoriasis. My skin is fresh and smooth like a younger person＊s skin. I told Dr Chen about a bump I received to my right knee before the psoriasis erupted. He told me this was important information to him. The more you can tell Dr Chen, the more help you may receive. This treatment can be quite expensive. I had the support of my wife and family and it is well worth persevering to get the final results that I got. Over to You Marion Biggam Dear Bella, My husband has had extensive psoriasis for 26 years. While it is not a life threatening disease, it is uncomfortable and embarrassing to him and it affects family life e.g. No swimming etc. Over the years he has tried all types of conventional treatment, with little success. It was with great interest, therefore, that I read about ※Traditional Chinese Medicine§ in ※Bella§, a few months ago. Bell's Palsy 
A facial paralysis (7th cranial nerve) The cause is a viral infection. In April 2000 I was diagnosis as having a Bell＊s palsy on the right side of my face. I was in shock, apart from the disfigurement of my face. My speech was slurred and it was a struggle to make myself understood. I could not raise my eyebrows, smile of show my teeth or close my eye. I had a loss of several senses, no feeling of touch just numbness, my vision was distorted due to both eyelids not functioning, my eye would need to be taped at night to prevent drying of the eye. Hearing was also distorted; sounds appeared to have an echo with a feeling of discomfort behind my ear. Eating and drinking was a problem, as I had no feeling of touch of any sensation of hot or cold, I experienced difficulty in swallowing food or fluid and a loss of taste, lips had to be protected. Pain was constant, between toothache and earache a feeling of tightness and hotness down the side of my neck. I visited my local G.P practice, and commenced on a course of steroids for a month, taking 8 tablets daily for a week, thereafter reducing to 6, 4, then 2 tablets weekly until the course had been completed. I also visited a specialist, who confirmed that it was a Bell＊s palsy, it would take 6 months to 2 years to recover. He also arranged a visit to the physio dept. my recovery was very slow. In August four months on, to my horror I developed a Bell＊s palsy on the other side of my face. Once again I was commenced on a course of steroids and analgesia.
